What to Expect

We look forward to meeting you on your first visit to our office. Your initial appointment will consist of a complimentary examination and a discussion of your potential treatment options. We understand that each patient's orthodontic treatment is unique, and we promise to give you the personal attention you deserve. We will address the following questions and encourage you to ask questions as well:

  • Is there a condition that orthodontics can address?
  • Is treatment needed now, or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?

If orthodontic treatment is recommended at your first visit, the next step is to take orthodontic diagnostic records. These consist of two orthodontic digital x-rays, a series of digital photographs, as well as molds of your teeth. Dr. Thames will use this information to develop a customized treatment plan for your care. Because we know your time is valuable, we can reserve time at your first visit for records to be taken if you are ready to get started.

Consultation

After we have evaluated your records, we conduct a treatment consultation to explain all aspects of your treatment in detail. We feel it is important to analyze each patient’s specific needs, because in-depth planning leads to superior results and higher patient satisfaction. Our goal is for our patients to leave our office with a clear understanding of their specific needs, what treatment will consist of, and how long it will take. We encourage questions and will address the following questions:

  • What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
  • Do any primary or permanent teeth need to be removed?
  • How long will treatment take?
  • How much will it cost?
  • What are my payment options?

Results may vary in individual cases. Photographs used are of models, not actual patients.
