Dr. Thames, originally from Montgomery, AL, attended Auburn University where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Thames received his D.M.D. from The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry in 2004, where he graduated with Honors. While in dental school, he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society, an honor only bestowed upon the top 5% of students in each class. Dr. Thames then went on to complete his residency in orthodontics at The University of Iowa in 2006. He earned his Master of Science degree during his residency by completing additional orthodontic research. Dr. Thames is a Board Certified Orthodontist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Currently, only 35% of orthodontists are board certified.
Dr. Thames is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Board of Orthodontics, Southern Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, and currently serves as an officer for the Alabama Dental Association's 9th District Dental Society. Dr. Thames lives in Auburn with his wife Ashley (also an Auburn graduate), their twin daughters, and their son. They are excited to be a part of the Auburn/Opelika community. During his time away from the office, Dr. Thames enjoys spending time with his family. He and his family are members of First Baptist Church of Opelika. His hobbies include running, fishing, hunting, and skiing. |
